Under the shade of a great old cherry tree is a new garden coming to be. In the heart of Cherry Grove, a place where cherry trees once grew, we return an abundance of native fruits, adding to the beauty of a beloved garden. Riddled with their artistic creations, paired with art from friends and the Strictly Roots team, we have created a lovely space.

ABOUT

Replicate nature

If you go walking in a wild area or national park, the plants are growing on top of each other! We were pleased that our stewards had already been going pretty hard in the garden. We brought a mix of native plants and ornamentals to complement their existing plants, boost the native population, and enhance their pollinator game!

Planting heavily helps you combat the “weeds” and work with your system. Of course, we believe even the weeds are useful! That’s why, in this garden, Horsetail has been pulled and used to make compost piles and compost tea.

After the recent construction and creation of the terraces, we lost some topsoil and exposed clay-rich soil. Horsetail, being well adapted to clay, stepped in as a natural repair crew, helping to remediate the land. We added mulch—a very helpful tool and friend in the garden—to support moisture retention and build the topsoil back over time.

Rosemary and thyme deserve a place in every garden. providing medicinal, spiritual, and tasty properties.
